About us

Healthy Initiatives

Healthy Initiatives is a non-profit organization aimed at promoting and strengthening public health tackling the most urgent questions in need of an answer. While we address the growing risks of non-communicable diseases and their key risk factors such as smoking in Ukraine, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, we also focus on the issue of mental health and well-being in time of crisis specifically providing mental health support to healthcare providers, war chaplains and other vulnerable categories affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. Currently the organization also provides humanitarian aid to the most dire areas of the country delivering CAT tourniquets and ambulances.

Choose the Right Side of History. Fight with Ukraine

Since the early days of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, “Healthy Initiatives” has been focusing on helping Ukraine win.

Tourniquets & ambulances for Ukraine

  • The war in Ukraine has brought immense suffering and grief to thousands of people. The “Healthy Initiatives” team is dedicated to alleviating some of this pain by raising funds to purchase CAT tourniquets and ambulances for the evacuation of wounded warriors and non-transportable civilians, and saving their lives. In the course of 2024, our organisation took part in the “Convoy of Hope” having delivered more than 80 ambulances to Ukraine as part of the joint missions.
  • Why do we need more and on a regular basis?
  • Near the front lines, an ambulance usually serves on average one-two months due to relentless shelling and impassable roads. Ambulances and healthcare facilities remain a number one target of the Russians. Still, one ambulance saves up to 250 lives on a monthly basis. This is why we opt for used vehicles which we look for, far and wide, buying at reduced prices.
  • The average cost of an ambulance is 7,000 euros. This is the price we pay to ensure that the wounded don’t have to walk several kilometers to a mobile frontline clinic, or a hospital under fire. An ambulance allows paramedics to transport the wounded and provide first medical assistance, rather than carrying them on their shoulders or using bicycles, as we have sadly witnessed.
  • Moreover, our team provided soldiers on frontlines with hundreds of CAT tourniquets to stop the bleeding immediately giving a chance for life. According to the protocol, a soldier is to have 4 tourniquets with him which potentially enlarges their chances to survive and also provide immediate assistance to someone next to them. In reality, there is a huge need in high-quality reliable tourniquets and often a soldier does not have those. One CAT tourniquet costs around 40 euro, and is delivered to the warriors fighting in the darkest areas.
  • Please consider making a difference.. Timely medical assistance means that children will see their parents again and someone’s world will remain in one piece. Sadly, we cannot stop the war, but we can fight on the side of light and bring hope.
  • We are grateful for every donation, big or small.
  • 100% of the funds will be used for the purchase and delivery of CAT tourniquets, and of ambulances to Ukraine’s darkest areas.
