In Bucha — a town that endured occupation, mass killings, and ongoing missile attacks — the need for psychological support remains profoundly urgent.

Healthy Initiatives, in partnership with Northwell Health, presented a project implementing the Stress First Aid program for healthcare professionals and military chaplains — those who stand on the frontlines of care every single day.

The project results were showcased during a panel discussion at the annual meeting of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), held on September 17–20 in Baltimore, USA.

In her presentation, Nataliia Toropova, the project lead, shared how the program helps frontline professionals working in high-stress and combat-affected environments manage the effects of trauma, build inner resilience, and continue supporting their communities even in the most challenging times.
